Caring for your jewelry
Mayuri creates high-end jewelry using precious metals and gemstones. To ensure their long-term preservation in optimal condition, we advise you to follow these care instructions.
Care of Silver and Vermeil Jewelry
Silver is a malleable metal that will conform to your shape and develop a patina over the years.
Your jewelry is in direct contact with your skin, your clothes, and also with pollution and humidity. It is therefore important to take good care of your jewelry and follow our care instructions to preserve it for as long as possible:
- Avoid all contact with chemicals and corrosive products.
- Remove your jewelry while doing housework.
- Remember to remove your jewelry before any sporting activity to preserve its shine and prevent it from knocking against itself.
- Remove your jewelry before going to bed so that it doesn't get caught on things during your nighttime movements.
- Keep your jewelry in its original box to prevent it from bumping into other objects.
- Use only your chamois cloth and soapy water to clean your jewelry.
- Avoid bending and unbending your bangles too much. Repeatedly stretching your jewelry weakens it.
- Avoid all contact with water, remove your jewelry before showering or swimming.

Care of Gold Jewelry Adorned with Precious Stones
Have you just bought a gold piece of jewelry? Then it's time to think about how to care for it!
Yes, it's certainly something we don't always pay attention to. We wear our jewelry every day without necessarily thinking about its care. Gold jewelry remains a valuable item that also needs attention. We sometimes forget to remove our gold rings before washing our hands, sleeping, and many other situations that can soil and tarnish them. Most of our rings are adorned with precious stones, and here too, you need to be more vigilant about their care and maintenance.
Wearing jewelry every day follows you everywhere in your every move, and that's why it's necessary to follow our care tips to ensure the longevity of your jewelry.
Rest assured, if you notice signs of wear despite regular care, it's perfectly normal. To remove any wear from the metal on your ring, a professional polishing by a jeweler will restore it to its original condition and give it a brilliant shine. It's recommended to have this done every 3 to 5 years.
How do I properly care for my gold ring?
Whether it's yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold, each of these metals requires careful maintenance. Many solutions exist, but this last one—a mixture of warm water and Marseille soap or dishwashing liquid—is the most suitable for all three metals.
Let's look in detail at the different solutions for these three metals.
How do I properly care for my yellow gold ring?
For yellow gold, several mixing solutions exist depending on what you have in your cupboard:
- Dishwashing liquid or Marseille soap + lukewarm water
- Coca-Cola
- White vinegar + Warm water
- Baking soda + Warm water
- Toothpaste
For each of these solutions, except for toothpaste, we recommend soaking them for about twenty minutes in your chosen mixture, then rinsing them with cold water. Once rinsed, carefully dry your ring gently with a microfiber cloth, chamois cloth, or chamois leather.
If you have chosen to clean your jewelry with toothpaste, apply the paste to the metal and gently rub with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Once finished, rinse with cold water and dry your jewelry.
How do I properly care for my white gold ring?
For the White Gold, only one technique is recommended: lukewarm water mixed with a few drops of Marseille soap. Please use the same technique as described above.
But why?
When we craft your white gold jewelry, the dominant color is yellow. For example, 18-karat white gold, composed of 75% yellow gold and 25% silver, platinum, or nickel, must then be coated with a layer of rhodium. This precious metal not only gives it a white color but also acts as a protective layer for your jewelry.
This rhodium layer fades year after year and tends to become yellowish, which is why it is advisable to visit a jeweler to have a layer of rhodium applied to your white gold jewelry.
A little extra info: Since polishing is required before any new application of rhodium layers, a visit every two to three years is more than enough to avoid weakening your jewelry too much.
How do I properly care for my rose gold ring?
As for rose gold, there are no contraindications. You can use the various solutions suggested in the section “How to properly care for my yellow gold ring?”
Unlike white gold, rose gold is not coated with a layer of pink metal over yellow gold. Rose gold is composed of a mixture of three alloys: pure yellow gold, copper, and silver. However, copper plays the primary role, as it is responsible for the more or less pronounced pink color, depending on the percentage of copper in the alloy.
A little extra info: Your rose gold ring will retain its pink color even over time.
And what about my precious stones?
Precious stones such as diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds all have varying degrees of resistance, and some are therefore more fragile than others. Here are our valuable tips for carefully caring for your stones to preserve their brilliance and longevity.
What object(s) and materials would I need?
Soft-bristled toothbrush
Dishwashing liquid (without chemicals or corrosive substances) or Marseille soap
A container of lukewarm water
A container of cold water
A microfiber cloth, a paper towel or a chamois cloth.
How to properly care for your diamond-encrusted jewelry?
The diamond is said to be the most durable and therefore the least fragile of all gemstones. That being said, it requires delicate care from you.
The first step is to dust your gemstone(s) thoroughly. Remove any small bits of dirt or even cream residue that may have accumulated in the setting of your gemstone(s). A simple soft-bristled toothbrush will do the trick, but be careful and use a gentle touch.
For the second step: In your first container, mix a little dishwashing liquid or Marseille soap with warm water.
Step three: Place your ring inside and let it soak for about ten minutes. This step will remove any remaining residue or impurities that you couldn't remove with your toothbrush.
Fourth step: After rinsing your ring with cold water, use your super microfiber cloth or chamois to absorb as much of the remaining water as possible from your ring to dry it completely.
Quick tip: Diamonds are sensitive to grease and dirt. Use a degreasing dishwashing liquid.
However, if your ring contains other stones besides diamonds, please refer to the section on other stones concerned.
How to properly care for jewelry adorned with sapphires or rubies?
Sapphire and ruby are considered to be durable gemstones.
Ruby and sapphire rank just behind diamond in terms of hardness and resistance. They are therefore extremely robust stones that do not scratch easily.
You can also use the same technique as for caring for a diamond jewel. Always clean your jewelry carefully.
How to properly care for your emerald-adorned jewelry?
Regarding the emerald, it is one of the most fragile and delicate stones among precious stones.
If you wish to care for your emerald jewelry, it is strongly advised to avoid exposing it to significant temperature fluctuations, as this can further weaken the stone. The care instructions are therefore similar to those for other jewelry with precious stones, but you should be even more vigilant regarding its maintenance and how it is worn daily.
